Marina "Mother's" Beach Strategic Plan

Public Presentation: April 27, 2006, 6:30pm, DCB meeting

The Department has tasked T. Keith Gurnee, RRM Design, one of the Department's urban design consultants to develop a strategic plan for Marina ("Mother's) Beach. The beach is frequented by many different "user groups", including rowers, kayakers, families with small children, and others. It is also surrounded by commercial development, with various redevelopment projects proposed. The Department is seeking to improve the public access and water activities, including the improvement of a public promenade along the road currently primarily used as a service road and the addition of park space. Mr. Gurnee has made presentations to both the Design Control Board and Beach Commission and continues to seek input from the many stakeholders that use Marina "Mother's" Beach while he refines and adds details to the plan.

The revised plan will be available for public review at the April 27, 2006 meeting of the Design Control Board, which will be held at 6:30pm at Burton Chace Park Community Building, 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey, 90292. The public is invited to attend. One or two months later, at another DCB meeting, the preferred plan will be presented. Written comments may be sent to the Department of Beaches and Harbors, 13483 Fiji Way, Trailer #3, Marina del Rey, CA 90292.
