Beach Commission

Meetings are usually held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Beach Commission meetings are held at 9:30am with a Facilities Design Subcommittee meeting at 9:00am as needed. Scheduled meeting dates for 2009 are:

The County of Los Angeles Beach Commission is a 20-member body appointed by the Board of Supervisors. It reviews Department of Beaches and Harbors policies, capital projects and contracts as related to the County-operated beaches.

Ten members are appointed by the Fourth Supervisorial District, seven from the Third Supervisorial District (both districts feature all the County-operated beaches) and one each from the First, Second and Fifth Districts.

The next regular meeting will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at 2:00PM. It will be held in the regular location: Burton Chace Park Community Room, 13650 Mindanano Way, Marina del Rey.

 

Design Control Board Agenda

Meetings are usually held on the third Thursday of each month at 2:00pm. NOTE: Meetings listed in bold will
be held at 6:30pm.

The meeting schedule for 2009 will be posted soon.

Meetings are canceled if a quorum is unobtainable or if there are no items for the agenda. A representative of projects on the agenda is required to attend. The meetings are open to the public.

Prior to the implementation of any exterior modifications or improvements to any Marina del Rey parcel, review and approval by the Design Control Board (DCB) is required. This includes new development, renovations, repainting, signage, re-landscaping, etc. The DCB can approve a submittal as proposed, approve it with revisions, or deny it. Depending on the type of request, additional permits may be required from the Department of Public Works Division of Building & Safety, the Department of Regional Planning and the California Coastal Commission.

Each Supervisor appoints one DCB member. The DCB is required to be composed of: two architects, one landscape architect, one developer, and one in the field of business management.

The Small Craft Harbor Commission is responsible for making recommendations to the Board of Supervisors concerning issues relating to the operation and management of Marina del Rey.

Meeting Dates for 2009 are as follows:
While the Commission regularly convenes on the
second Wednesday of each month, the Commission
requested that the April and July dates be changed
to the third Wednesday of the month, as reflected
in the dates below. The meetings will continue to
be held at 9:30a.m. in the Burton Chace Park
